A new 5-star ‘boutique’ hotel opens in Liverpool later this year, in three restored 1920s buildings in the centre of the city.
The Layla hotel will have 84 bedrooms including Junior Suites and a Grand Presidential Suite. All the rooms lead off from a central 1920s steel-caged lift, which is being refurbished with a contemporary glass exterior. Throughout the hotel the original architecture will be styled to blend with contemporary features.
The Layla will have two restaurants: the Annexe featuring a circular bar, and a New York-style brasserie called Madison’s which will have resident and guest DJs at the weekends.
There will also be an indoor pool, spa, gym, cigar terrace, wine-tasting room and private movie screening room. The cigar terrace will have sofas, armchairs and outdoor heaters and offer the city’s first bespoke champagne/cigar pairing evenings where guests can try a range of hand-rolled Cuban cigars from a walk-in humidor.
