Gordon Ramsay scholarship winner Aled Williams is the chef at a new restaurant opening this summer in Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales.
Owners Brian and Ffiona Thomas are farmers in Llannerch-y-medd, Anglesey and have always wanted to ‘bring the farm to town’. They recently opened a butchery, local artisan shop and cafe called MooBaaOinc and hope that the restaurant helps ‘bring the farm to the fork’.
Ffiona says: ‘In Cennin, the cafe and shop, we use and sell only the very best local produce direct from the farmer or producer, including our own award-winning Welsh black beef and Welsh lamb.’
Aled Williams is a Gordon Ramsay scholarship winner and Great British Menu acclaimed chef. He has worked at Ramsay’s Royal Hospital Road Restaurant in London, Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck Restaurant, Ynyshir Hall near Machynlleth and Plas Bodegroes in Pwllheli.
Cennin restaurant will be open for dinner Tue–Sun and Sunday lunch, and will also be able to cater for private functions for up to 14 guests in its private dining room or up to 50 in the restaurant. Cennin is the Welsh word for leeks, the vegetable that is the national emblem of Wales.
Beaumaris is a historic town on the Isle of Anglesey on the Menai Strait. It has a medieval castle and a Victorian pier and is a popular yachting centre.
